Please send the following email to: geraldine.larkin@igb.ie hilary.forde@igb.ie (The email addresses are working. Please make sure you put the addresses in as they are written here – cut and paste – no capital letters. And perhaps send one at a time if you still have problems.) Dear Geraldine and Hilary, On Friday 13th May 2016, the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) issued a statement regarding the 24 greyhounds Robert Green attempted to export to Macau only the previous day, and it has already put this into action by revoking the sales agents licence of Ross Myles, the Irish transporter who brought the dogs over to the UK from Ireland. This is that statement: “The GBGB is aware of reports concerning 24 greyhounds being exported to Macau via Manchester. GBGB does not advocate the export of greyhounds to jurisdictions where welfare standards cannot be verified and will take action against persons that supply greyhounds to such countries.” This is the statement the IGB should have issued several weeks ago following nine Irish greyhounds being exported to Macau from Ireland in April and May 2016. This is the statement that would have prevented Robert Green from attempting to export another 24 greyhounds to Macau. This is the statement that would have saved those greyhounds from a life of misery and an early death in Macau. It is only due to the incompetence of the transporters and the vigilance of the staff at the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre that they are not at this moment enduring such misery. The IGB did nothing, absolutely nothing, to protect those dogs. In just four weeks, Stop Exportation of Greyhounds from Ireland to China has grown into an international group of 7,000 people that is growing exponentially every day. People from allover the world are watching the Irish Greyhound Board to see what it does to protect the dogs the Irish racing community claims to love. We’re waiting for just an inkling that that claim bears any weight. The world is watching, ladies. Prove to us the IGB is not complicit in the exportation of Irish greyhounds to Macau by issuing a statement with some teeth instead of the hand washing one the IGB issued on 22nd April 2016. Sincerely, Country: © Riproduzione riservata
